So many of you have signed up for the Remains of the Day class from Mary Ann Moss. I was hesitant at first since I had only used a sewing machine once or twice and was a bit intimidated. Well, encouragement from some friends spurred me to purchase a simple machine and try the class.
I did make the cover, but I did not love it, knowing me as you do - I love paper, and so a fabric cover was hard for me. So what I have done was used her class and added my own style to it. I found my pages fit into the covers of an antique bound magazine perfectly. I still need to alter the cover, but I was eager to stitch in the signatures I had made.

I loved Mary Ann's way of creating pages for my signatures, but again, I could not rely completely on sewing. I had to tape and paste some things in as well. I even tore some pages out of a journal I had made a while back that I was not happy with the spiral binding so I could cut and sew them in as well. So now I like doing that, collaging a part of a page then sewing it in amidst the rest.

So here are some photos of my pages that I made into a slide show -I only am showing you my favourites - I have 3 signatures of 6 sewn in this book (I used the Teesha Moore style of stitching) so that is a lot of pages and would bore you I am certain).
You can view the individual photos in my flickr stream or on my miscellany journal page. But the two I liked most are below. If you took the class, please leave a link to where I can see your pages!

Hope, I'm so glad Pam talked you into trying out the ROD journal. Isn't it fun? I am still working on my pages. It's been slow going because I've only had small increments of time to work on it. I'm like you - Yours looks fabulous!

Your ROD journal is lovely!
I thought the fabric cover was a challenge, too. But I stopped hating it after I sewed on more stuff to cover the stuff I didn't like. An x-ray of the cover would be hilarious - it has about 10,000 layers!
Regardless, the sewing process made me really think as I created, since I sometimes had to consider both sides of the page at once. I've since made a smaller one that I like, too!

Hello Hope. I found my way to your blog via a comment you left at http://sweetpeaink.typepad.com where you expressed interest in a signature swap. Opposite of you, I found that sewing the cover was more in my comfort zone than were the pages. While I see that your creativity produced an amazing alternative cover, I wondered if perhaps you'd be interested in swapping a signature (or some #pages) for a sewn cover for your future use? You may viewed my work at flickr - dejavucreations and email me at dejavucreations@yahoo.com

Oh Hope, how exciting for me that I found you while perusing the ROD flickr site today instead of working. I LOVE your style. Fabulous!!! Do you teach classes? I'm just learning about all this cool paper journaling (dyed coffee filters...who knew???) and am loving it. The freedom is liberating. I'm a needlework designer and am used to being precise and staying in the lines.
Anyway, wanted to thank you for sharing your pages. I have a little video on my blog of my pre-journaled pages. I've since finished filling up journal #1 and am about to make the cover of my second. I need to look at your covers again. Didn't really enjoy sewing mine the first time around.
Thanks,
Tracy
