I have been working on something really fun that I will be able to announce in a week or so (the above photo is a peek) ... but I have not forgotten about my blog, I promise! In the next couple of days I will be posting some more photos from my agenda journal.

In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to do a Q & A for journaling - I get a lot of emails asking questions and wanted to create a section with answers - so ask away.... what do you want to know about my journaling? Leave your journaling questions in a comment below (thru January 18th) and I will do a post answering as best I can!

Hi Hope...I have a couple of questions...you are such a prolific and dedicated journaler. Do you set aside a certain amount of time to journal each day? Also, do you ever sketch out your page layouts or just wing it? :-)
Thanks!

Yes... my question is What's in your purse? What do you carry in your purse to journal on the go? Markers, pens, pencils, colors?
Thanks!

How long do you spend on a page, on average?
And is your handwriting naturally beautiful or do you take the time to "draw" out your words and phrases?
Thank you!

Why did you begin journaling? And what made you decide to start incorporating more art & word-art?

What are your sources for the great vintage images of people?
Thanks!

Where do you find inspiration on what to write about? As someone who journals mostly in situations where I am processing emotions, mostly difficult ones, I am wondering: Do you also keep a journal with everything "non-beautiful", just for yourself?

You have a very distinct style... it is very recognizable as your own. How did you go about finding your own style?
Do you have any tips for someone else who would like to develop a style of their own?
Thanks, Emie

What is gel medium? How is it better than/different from other adhesives? (I adore gluesticks but I worry about their permanence.)
How big of a journal (size and number of pages) do you usually use for your souvenir and other journals?
Are you ever at a loss for ideas when facing the blank page? How do you break through this?

So you layout several pages with images and items before you start and are your pages one day only or do you add to them over several days.

Love your journaling style! What type of pens do you use and do you usually journal every day?

What are your inspirations for journaling layout? Your journaling to me is like a pretty layout; graphical and clean, maybe you are inspired by designers, magazines, books, other journalers we can check out? :-)
Also, What is your favorite recourses for imagery?

Hi Hope!
I was wondering if what your process is as far as do you go through a journal and place images and emphmera in your book and then journal around it? or is it more each day you create an entire lo/entry?
Love! Love! Love! your blog...you are my first read every night when I open my reader! Thanks for being such a great inspriation!

Hope - thank you for the option to ask questions - I think some of the other comments may cover my questions but here goes:
What comes first on your page? the journalling or the ephemera?
How many different journals do you work on at a time and how do you get around which one to work in?
Many thanks - and thank you for the inspiration.

What kind of markers do you use on your Moleskine pages? I have found my Copics bleed through too much. I'd love to hear what kinds work for you. Love your work - so talented and inspiring!

I'm so glad I found this on Pinterest. :)
As of late, I've been dealing with some especially difficult things in my life- among them are reoccurring bouts of depression. I do find it so cathartic to journal; but my hangup is actually etching into reality these ugly and horrible thoughts I have. Being a pretty sentimental sap, I regularly re-read previous posts and the idea of having those negative emotions on record sort of scares me. Thoughts?
