Today's Prompt (all prompts can be seen HERE):
December 8 - What was the quote or saying that most resonated with you this past year?
Was there any quote, mantra or saying that really spoke to you? Helped you through something? Made you smile?
I love quotes - so this was a fun day for me to journal - the only problem was figuring out which quote to use! I was flittering around online the other night and stumbled upon InkyTwig who is reverb11-ing (looks like she is using several peoples prompts for different days - check it out!). On her side bar under the heading 'words to feed the soul' was a quote that resonated with me - and since it was the most recent find, I thought I was use it.

The quote:
"Our job in this lifetime is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it."- Steven Pressfield (The War of Art)

I wrote the quite on the front of a library checkout card (above), and on the back I wrote about how I love quotes, and why:

December 9 - Was there anything you were feeling nostalgic for in 2011?
Anything that you were feeling nostalgic for? Something you were yearning for from your past? A memory that wouldn't leave you, or tradition that you wish you could continue?
For day nine (day page above, which is actually an envelope), I used some photos I recently reprinted, a series of photos of me and my mom standing next to snowmen we made:

Inside the envelope, I added a slip of paper talking about some of the things I remember and miss (yearn for) from the winters and holidays of my childhood:

Here you can see the envelope open... no peeking inside!

On the back of one photo I write a bit about nostalgia. For many it has a negative connotation, but not for me.

I finished up with 2 more photos - this last one my mom was not in, but my stuffed snoopy was in her stead:

See you tomorrow for day 10!

This is amazing. You are incredibly talented. I love the word nostalgia because for me it makes me think of antique, vintage, my grandma and all things I adore. You are making me look at things in a different way entirely with this site! I love photography and now my mind is WHIRLING with ideas for journaling, photography and writing all mixed together. Thank you! AND thank you for the mention! I appreciate it!! I'm so glad I found your site!
